Ninety years of family business, and a website that showed almost none of it. I grew up on Archie's frozen pizzas on Saturday nights, so when Phil asked me to rebuild their site it was the easiest yes of the year.

A legacy, not a corner shop

This is a third-generation smokehouse and pizza business in Starbuck, supplying southern Manitoba. The old site wasn't short on information. It had plenty. What it didn't have was a story, or a route through. The first thing the new layout had to establish is that you're not looking at an ordinary shop, you're looking at ninety-plus years of one family feeding a region.

Everything they actually make

Smoked meats, custom orders, the pizzas, Kathy's Creation, and the goods you only find by walking in. The job was mapping all of it properly so people can find their answer without hunting for it: what shows first, how the services lay out, and what earns its place further down.

Behind the counter

The project started with photography, which meant a day watching how the place actually runs and meeting the person now carrying it into its third generation. You can't write a business like this from a brief. You have to stand in it.

Warm before you walk in

We added a custom order form so questions and special requests come in properly instead of over the phone, and rebuilt the look to feel warm and inviting, so the site gives you the same feeling as the shop, even from your couch on a Saturday night.
